Do you avoid the spotlight because of the stress of speaking? Maybe you do it anyway but hate the way your anxiety takes over?
YOU DESERVE TO HAVE YOUR VOICE HEARD
Just think of what you could achieve if you really could have your voice heard without your stomach churning every time. Whether you wish to promote your business or have a cause you want to champion, it’s time a fear of public speaking was no longer holding you back.
I want you to know that if you are struggling with a fear of public speaking then you are not alone, but there is hope ahead. I will share with you key lessons I’ve learnt so that you can start finding the power of having your voice heard.
Hi, I’m Julie Kenny
A degree in computer science led me to a 30 year career in software development, and it would be fair to say that I didn’t speak for 20 years. After spending all that time hiding from the spotlight I realised that if I wanted to have more control over my career I would need to be comfortable having my voice heard.
Overcoming my fear of public speaking involved a fair amount of shaking, stomach churning and a few tears, but eventually it started to actually be fun. Soon it developed into a passion, and I soon found myself volunteering to speak, not just at work, but at supplier and technical events too.
Losing the crippling fear of speaking brought unexpected consequences; less stress meant better sleep. I was calmer, more focused and had learnt to communicate more effectively with those around me.
I now help others with overcoming their barriers to effective speaking with less fear, through coaching, online courses and live classes.
As an active member of Toastmasters International, I regularly compete in speech contests and achieved my Distinguished Toastmaster award in 2020.
